For recreational golfers, no part of the golf game is more frustrating than getting great contact on a drive...only to see it slice 50 yards into the woods. To compensate, many golfers make "on-the-fly" adjustments that usually make the problem worse! In this article, I'll give you FIVE FAQ's on key swing fundamentals that will help you to stop slicing a golf ball. (These FAQ's are for right-handers..for left-handers, reverse the directions).
The Setup -- When a basketball defender is guarding his man, he tries to be perfectly balanced so that he can quickly react to the direction that his opponent is going. If he is leaning right, the offensive player could easily exploit that. In a similar way, you must be properly balanced as you setup to the ball. Bend your knees, get set and avoid leaning to the right or to the left. If you aren't set properly, your swing is doomed before it begins! If you are perfectly balanced, you'll be less likely to slice the ball.

Will Golf Gps Speed Up Golf?
In the old days (i.e. before Jack Nicklaus), folks played the game as a recreation not as much as a sport. You would carry your bag down the fairway, eye the shot, pull a club and fire away. It was a game of feel and not so much a game of ultimate accuracy. As with any game however, people soon became more concerned with score and comparing scores. Jack was one of the first touring pros to meticulously chart each course. He played for money and accuracy was money! So everyone joined in the fun; pros and amateurs alike started to take the game more seriously and marched off their distances. Today it is common; every course has 100 yard, 150 yard, and 200 yard markers in the fairway, or on the cart paths. Golfers pace off yardage like caddies to determine which club to select, and if you are an average golfer that becomes very difficult, since you tend to be off the fairway most of the time, and the markers are in the fairway. The new golf GPS can bring back the old days, and let you score your best.

Fix Your Golf Slice
1. The Left Arm-- For right-handers, controlling the left arm during the swing is crucial to avoid slices. Many golfers bend the left arm as they are going back, and straighten it as they are impacting the ball. In reality, you should be doing the reverse! Keeping the left arm as straight as possible during the backswing is important, and making sure your left wrist stays firm and resisting the temptation to bend the wrist or "cup" it, is a good first step. However, on the downward swing, you must bend the left arm as you rotate the right hand and arm over. If you don't bend the arm on the downswing, you will find yourself slicing the ball very frequently.
2. The Stance--As you bend the knees and get ready to hit the ball, imagine you are a baseball infielder getting ready for the pitch. You want to be extremely balanced as you get into your stance. If you start out to the left or to the right, you will find yourself slicing the ball, even if you have a good swing. Having proper balance is the first crucial step to ensuring a straight shot . If you want to fix your golf slice, your stance is key!
3. Weight-- One simple way thing to check is where the bulk of your weight is during your swing. When you get to the top of your backswing, make sure that your weight is primarily on your right foot. However, when your swing is over, you should find that your weight has moved to your other foot. If you want to fix your golf slice, make sure that 80-90% of your weight moves to your left foot after your swing has been completed. If you find the weight staying on your right foot, you have found a big reason why you are slicing your tee shots.
